Remembrance Sunday is 8 November 2026. Last year Basingstoke's 11am service was at the War Memorial on London Road after a parade from Market Place.

Remembrance Sunday falls on Sunday 8 November 2026, and Armistice Day on Wednesday 11 November. Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council has not yet published this year’s arrangements: its Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day page says “More details to be released in early autumn 2026”. Last year’s service is set out below from the council’s own announcement, as the best guide until then.

The quick answer

  • Sunday 8 November 2026: Remembrance Sunday. Last year Basingstoke’s service was at 11am at the War Memorial outside the Civic Offices on London Road, after a parade from Market Place through the Top of the Town.
  • Wednesday 11 November: Armistice Day, with a short 11am service at the same memorial last year.
  • Baughurst’s service is confirmed: the council has sealed a road closure there for 8 November, 10.30am to midday.

How Basingstoke’s service ran in 2025

The council’s release of 30 October 2025 described the day:

  • The parade of veterans and serving personnel, civilian uniformed services, cadets, associations and schools formed in Market Place and marched through the Top of the Town, arriving at the War Memorial just before 11am.
  • The service began with The Last Post and the Exhortation, then two minutes’ silence at 11am. There was a Chinook flypast from RAF Odiham.
  • Wreaths were laid by the Deputy Lord-Lieutenant on behalf of the Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire, by the Mayor and by the Leader of the Council, and members of the public were invited to lay tributes after the service.
  • The salute was taken in London Street as the parade marched back through the Top of the Town to Market Place.
  • Traffic: a road closure ran outside the Civic Offices all morning, and traffic in New Road was stopped at 11am for the silence.

The council warned that space at the War Memorial is limited, so arrive early. People could place their own poppy crosses afterwards beside the soldier silhouette outside the Goldings building, near the memorial.

On Armistice Day last year the Mayor and the Leader laid a wreath at the War Memorial at a short 11am service with two minutes’ silence and prayers.

Baughurst: roads closed on the morning

The council’s temporary road closures page carries a sealed order for Baughurst Remembrance Sunday: Heath End Road, Wellington Crescent, Bishopswood Lane and Brimpton Road close on Sunday 8 November 2026 from 10.30am to midday, with access kept for residents. When we checked on 25 September it was the only Remembrance closure on the register; Basingstoke town’s had not yet been published.
