Santa visits Dunelm in Chineham from 5 to 8 December and Asda Brighton Hill from 18 to 23 December. Free to see, a small present each, donations to charity.

Santa will be at Dunelm in Chineham from Saturday 5 to Tuesday 8 December, and at Asda in Brighton Hill from Friday 18 to Wednesday 23 December, and seeing him costs nothing. The visits are run in aid of a charity, which asks families who can spare it for a small donation on the day.

Roy Hart sent us the dates through the comment form on our Santa’s grotto round-up, and they are a useful alternative to the £8 grotto at Festival Place and the £35.25 ticket at Milestones.

The quick answer

  • Dunelm, Chineham: Saturday 5 to Tuesday 8 December.
  • Asda, Brighton Hill: Friday 18 to Wednesday 23 December.
  • Free, with a small donation to the charity if you can give one. Each child gets a small present, and you can take as many photos as you like.

In the organiser’s words

“Santa is also visiting Dunelm in Chineham on the 05-12 -2026 until the 08-12 -2026. And it free to see Santa unless you can give a small donation to the charity on the day. Plus he is visiting Asda in Brighton Hill on the 18-12-2026 until the 23-12-2026. And again it free or if you can a small donation to the charity on the day. They will receive a small present from Santa. Plus you can take as many photos as you what.”

So bring a phone or a camera: the organiser says there is no limit on pictures.

What it means for you

  • No booking has been mentioned. The organiser has not given opening hours for either store, so check with the store before a special trip, especially on the Tuesday at Dunelm and the weekdays at Asda.
  • Bring some change if you want to give: donations are optional but they are the point of the visit for the charity.
  • Planning a paid visit as well? Festival Place opens its grotto on Sunday 1 November and Milestones from Saturday 28 November; prices, dates and booking links for every grotto in the borough are in our Santa in Basingstoke 2026 round-up, and markets are in Basingstoke Christmas markets 2026.
